Fort Nelson and the Northern Rockies Regional District is situated in the north-eastern corner of British Columbia, Canada. We are bordered by Alberta to the east, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon to the north, and the Rocky Mountains to the west.
Fort Nelson is accessible by road or air.
From Vancouver, drive north through Hope, and onto Highway 97 at Cache Creek, through Prince George to Dawson Creek-Mile Zero of the World Famous Alaska Highway. Fort Nelson is 454 km (283 miles) northwest from there, on the Alaska Highway.
Greyhound Canada offers daily passenger services to and from the area.
Central Mountain Air offers daily scheduled flights out of the Fort Nelson Airport to a number of British Columbia and Alberta destinations. Chartered air services such as Villers Air Service, Liard Air Services Ltd., Duke’s Air Service, Qwest Helicopters, Guardian Helicopters, Highland Helicopters, Canadian Helicopters and Dominion Helicopters all provide remote access for both industrial and tourism related travel to the surrounding Northern Rockies area.
