Due to wildfire activity in the area, Highway 97 (Alaska Highway) is experiencing intermittent closures. Conditions can change quickly, so please plan ahead and stay up to date as you travel. 

We encourage you to make informed decisions based on your comfort level and flexibility. These resources will help you stay updated:

  2. BC Wildfire Service – Wildfire updates (also available via app)
  3. Voyent Alert! – Local emergency notifications in select communities
  4. Firesmoke.ca – Visual wildfire smoke tracking

If You’re Travelling with Time and Flexibility

The communities of Fort Nelson, Toad River, Muncho Lake, and others remain open and welcoming. If conditions allow, take the opportunity to safely explore. Check for updates regularly when you have service, expect delays, reach out to your accommodations providers to stay in touch if you are experiencing delays, and follow directions from local authorities.
