This trail starts from Strawberry Flats Provincial Campground then crosses the highway. On the east side of the highway the trail is marked with rock cairns crossing from the right side of the alluvial fan to the left. On the far side a yellow tree marker shows where the old highway heads off the fan and is cut into the side slope of the hill. The trail continues along the old highway for 2 km with minimal elevation gain or loss before turning a quick left and coming back down to the new highway.
A side trip up to the Muncho Lake viewpoint starts 2 km along the old Alaska Highway trail just before you round your first bend and come away from the Strawberry Flats alluvial fan. A well-worn trail heads up hill to the right from here for another 2 km before getting quite steep for the last few hundred meters and reaching the top of a ridge with excellent views of the entire length of the lake.
Difficulty: Old Alaska highway Trail = Easy, Trail to viewpoint = Moderately Difficult
Length: 4 km round trip
